ISLAMABAD – The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Friday directed the contesting candidates of NA-267 Bolan-cum-Jhal Magsi to discontinue their election campaign by midnight April 26-27.
“No persons shall convene hold or attend any public meetingand no person shall promote or join any procession within the areaof the constituency during a period of 48 hours ending at midnight(of April 26, 27) following the conclusion of the poll for anelection in that constituency.”
“Any person, who contravenes the provisions of law shall be punishable with rigorous imprisonment for a term, which may extend to six months or with fine which may extend to one thousand rupees or with both,” it said.
ECP has directed candidates to follow the provisions of law and exercise self-restraint to ensure orderly and peaceful polls on April 28, the statement added.
