KARACHI: An anti-terrorism court on Saturday showed displeasure on police failure in arresting Anis Qaimkhani, who has recently formed a new party in association with another MQM dissenter, Mustafa Kamal. On almost every hearing of the case related to mega corruption, embezzlement of public money, land scams and facilitating injured terrorists in medical treatment from Dr Asim Hussain-owned hospitals, the ATC showed anger and displeasure on police for failure to produce Qaimkhani. The court on Saturday once again issued non-bailable arrest warrants of Qaimkhani, MQM leader Saleem Shehzad, PPP leader Abdul Qadir Patel and others. Investigation officer informed the court that police has been making all-out efforts to arrest Qaimkhani. The court said that it may consider placing him on the exit control list since he is continuously failing to appear. The court also sought detailed report from police on efforts to arrest absconders. Counsel for Dr Asim Hussain argued that the application by Rangers does not contain name of his client and that the court has to respond to that application. The ATC in response said that the court would give a detailed reply in black and white. Police also informed the ATC that it raided the residence of Qaimkhani but could not arrest him as he was not present there at that time. The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has been approached in black and white for arrest of PPP leader Abdul Qadir Patel on his return to Pakistan, the court was informed.
